Bhubaneswar: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has voiced serious concerns regarding the faculty recruitment practices at Biju Patnaik College of Science & Education (BPCSE) this past Saturday.
During a press conference, key figures including Odisha NSUI in-charge Chunnu Singh, Congress leader Shah Rukh Khan, and NSUI state president Udit Pradhan criticized the state administration, asserting that the shortcomings in the new education policy are detrimental to students. Pradhan remarked, “The promises made by the ‘Double Engine’ government have become mere illusions.”
He further stated that the new education policy is set to undermine the academic framework of India. Additionally, he accused former principal Pradipta Kumar Gahan of being reappointed despite facing serious allegations of financial misconduct during his previous term, which contradicts government regulations against such reappointments.
Pradhan suggested that Gahan’s alleged connections with Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan and past associations with Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo allowed him to evade scrutiny and complete his tenure.
He called upon Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj to initiate an inquiry into the alleged recruitment irregularities.
